Hi, I’m Monet Goode.
Music offers another way into the work. It can bring us closer to emotion, help us feel more present in our bodies, and give expression to experiences that are difficult to put into words. I use humming, singing, movement, and rhythm as embodied ways of exploring what is happening within us, and sometimes, of getting closer to our own voice when it has been difficult to hear. Guided imagery and music offer a contained way to turn inward, following images, memories, emotions, and sensations as they unfold and beginning to understand how they connect.
I have extensive experience using music therapy with neurodivergent children across a wide range of support needs. Music can support speech and communication, sensory processing, regulation, and social-emotional development, while also giving kids a creative space to show us who they are. Through songwriting, improvisation, singing, and playing together, we often discover strengths, interests, and ways of connecting that weren’t as accessible through other approaches.
You don’t need to be musical to benefit from music therapy. Music is simply another way to access, express, and work with what is already there
